Lunches
Hamilton offers a hot lunch every day for children in Reception - Year 6, though you can also send in a packed lunch from home if you prefer, on a regular or occasional basis.
Children are able to choose between 2-3 meal options each day, which will always include a vegetarian option and, most days, a halal meat option. Our menus are nutritionally balanced and run on a 3-week menu cycle. You do not need to book lunches in advance; children make their selection from the menu on the day, as making choices is part of enabling the children to become independent thinkers and learners.
Menus
You will be asked about dietary preferences and allergies when your child starts the school. If these change at any time you must inform the school office in writing. Staff will only offer children appropriate choices, but please see the allergen chart below if you wish to review the options available to your child.
Payment
As part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) legislation, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are able to have a free meal daily during term time.
For children in Years 3-6, the normal menu is priced at £2.75 per child. Payment is via the cashless ParentMail system. ParentMail allows you to put credit on your child’s account and then they can 'buy' a lunch.
Income-based Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
Children whose parents receive certain benefits may be eligible for free hot lunches in Years 3-6; you must complete the application form:
Free School Meals and Pupil Premium Application Form
Paper copies are sent to new students in their admissions pack and are available from the school office. Once we have received your application, we will inform you by email whether your child is eligible or not.
Even if your child is in Reception–Year 2 now, please still apply! Eligibility triggers the following benefits straight away:
- An additional Pupil Premium payment to the school from the government, which we use to enhance the children's learning
- Vouchers for food and activities during the school holidays
